Nurse Shortage after Brexit

NHS faces a nurse shortage after Brexit

According to data leaked to the Health Service Journal, the NHS could be facing a nurse shortage after Brexit of up to 40000 nurses by 2026.

Warnings from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) have said that such a shortage would leave the NHS “unsafe” as patients’ quality of care is directly impacted by the number of nurses on duty. The NHS has always relied on staff from Europe and further afield to fill vacancies. Without urgent action being taken from the Government, the future provision of a safe and sustainable health service is in jeopardy.
