Complaints against the Welsh NHS not handled quickly enough

Thousands of complaints against the Welsh NHS are not receiving a response within the government-set 30-day target.

Health Secretary Vaughan Gething AM confirmed Wales’ seven health boards received 5,861 complaints in 2016-17. But he said just 2,393 of them were dealt with in the expected timescale of 30 days.

It means nearly half (45%) of complaints received by health boards were not dealt with in the target time.
