With 2019 well underway, it’s time to look to the nurses’ training courses scheduled for the coming year and book onto those you’d like to attend.
Every year, each of our Richmond agency nurses has to complete a number of mandatory courses, which are CPD accredited and count towards your annual revalidation. In addition, we offer a full schedule of extra courses, enabling nurses and healthcare assistants to add to their skillset and develop their career. These come in the form of practical sessions and online courses.
As a nurse-led business supplying nurses for more than 20 years, our main strength has been our understanding of the need for continued professional development of our workforce. Both internally and through our external links, Richmond continues to offer a diverse and wide-ranging number of training and course options which can contribute towards individual learning, as well as NMC revalidation and/or where there is a requirement to maintain a portfolio of learning.
Led by our nurse and HCA ambassador group, CPD course options and topics are regularly reviewed, ensuring that our offering meets the needs and wants of our agency nurses and healthcare assistants. New courses and qualifications that have been introduced as a result of this during the last year include basic observations for HCAs, catheterisation, enteral feeding (PEG), epilepsy emergency intervention, flu vaccinations, immediate life support, IV cannulation, tracheostomy care and NVQ qualifications in health and social care levels 2 and 3.
Our nurses training page currently shows the dates for the BLS and manual handling course dates from now until the end of May. We also have all further dates until the end of the year, so please contact the office for dates of this course from June onwards. All are to be held in the Village Hotel in Swansea and we’re also running an Immediate Life Support Course on June 5 in our Llanelli offices.
For mandatory and further professional development courses, we’re proud to work in partnership with Interactive Healthcare Training, providing our staff with access to courses such as fire safety, lone worker safety, infection control, dignity and respect and the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
There are also many other sources for external CPD training and we have close links with the Royal College of Nursing, regularly posting details of their courses run locally in Wales. Further details and an updated list of the RCN courses currently available can be found on their website.
We created the nurse and HCA ambassador roles last year to learn about and understand the issues you face, enabling us to make your working life easier and continue to go from strength to strength as one of Wales’ leading nurses agencies. You told us you wanted more training, and we responded! We are continually looking to expand our ambassador pool, so please get in touch if you would like to attend the meetings.
As an approved supplier under the All Wales Agency Framework, Richmond Nursing Agency covers the majority of critical care areas, various and multiple ward areas, theatres and mental health. If you know someone who might be interested in joining our team, have a look at our refer a friend scheme and invite them aboard!
